Can you believe it’s February already? Seems like we were just wishing each other a Happy New Year! I especially like this month because there is Valentine’s Day so it’s easy to find anything and everything in red and pink. I remember loving Valentine’s Day as a kid. Even through high school, my parents and/or boyfriend would send balloons and teddy bears to the school on that day and it was nice to get those “I Love You” and “Be Mine” gifts. I didn’t mind it then because tons of other kids would have balloons and teddy bears too so it was no big ordeal. However, I don’t like any of that funny business now. You get balloons and stuff at work as an adult, then people start “ooh’ing” and “ahh’ing” and asking questions and I don’t like that. Just bring mine home. Lol. Many people feel like Valentine’s Day is superficial and they don’t like it. Even though my husband and I don’t typically do anything special for Valentine’s Day, I’m indifferent about it. If we decide to celebrate, cool. If not, still cool. It sounds cliche’ but after being with someone for almost 23 years, it gets more and more important to focus on showing that same love each and every day. Besides, I get more excited about all the chocolate going on sale the day after Valentine’s Day.
Anyway, if we do decide to go out this year, it won’t be anything too fancy. I don’t like dressing up and neither does my hubby. So I’m sharing with you my casual Valentine’s Day look.

So this coat, yall. I paid full price for it a couple years ago. Can you believe it? Please understand that it wasn’t $100 or anything like that, but still. They actually brought it back this year, but unfortunately it is sold out online (but I’ve linked some options). 🙁 I love the over-sized stand up collar. It makes the coat look so chic and it adds a layer of protection from the cold wind and I needed it because it was freezing outside when we took these photos. (SN: Did yall notice that I’m out? At a public park? Where people can see me?!! Yay me!!!)
I also love the details of the bold black buttons. Burgundy automatically came to mind when thinking about what I would pair with this fabulous coat. Blush pink and burgundy is one of my favorite color combos. They are such a great contrast to each other and it just works. So these burgundy booties fit the bill and were the perfect complement.
What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Do you dress up for it?
