Do You Know Who You Are?

I was coaching someone the other day and I asked, “If you dropped the doctor and the mom titles, who are you?”

She was blown away by the question. Very shocked that I even had the audacity to ask her to drop her titles.

She had no idea who she was outside of a doctor and a mom.

There’s nothing wrong with achievements and titles. They help us grow and evolve and they get us to where we want to be.

Knowing who you are outside of that is also important. That’s how you know at the core of your being what you truly want.

Outside of being a wife, mom, and coach, I am a nerd, a traveler, a learner, and an avid reader. I’m a free-spirit. I love the beach. I love music. I love solving my own problems and then helping other people do it. I love being alone with my thoughts.

This is who I am at my core. If I decided to no longer be a life coach, this would not change. So these are the guiding posts for what I choose to do with my time. Any significant amount of time doing things outside of who I truly am is likely falling into people-pleasing or buffering (doing something to avoid feeling my feelings), which could indicate that I’m not living my most authentic life.

So who are you without the titles and accolades?

Is how you’re spending your time lining up with who you really are?

If not, let’s change that. I want you to find what you want to do and do it. Reach out to me and let’s talk about how we can get you there. Click the button below.
