How Did I Get Here? Part 1

Well, obviously I know how I got here. My mom and dad did the thing to make the thing and then the thing…you know that thing. Lol. But the “here” I am referring to is this place in my life where I am writing blog posts, taking pictures, putting myself out there for all to see.

Since about 2010, I have been asking myself “What is my purpose in life? What did God put me here to do?” All of that time was not spent actively trying to find my purpose. It mostly consisted of me just wondering and asking myself from time to time, but still going about my life as I had known it (going to work, being a mom, being a wife, etc.). I was not unhappy at all and lived a great life actually. I have a wonderful husband and daughter, loving family, supportive friends, a successful career, great health, and everything in between. What more could I want, right? Well, I felt that there was more and I wanted it. I felt unfulfilled and I wanted to feel like I was making a difference, having more of a direct impact on others’ lives.

The more time that passed, the more it started to bother me. I would talk to family and friends, research online, and read books about finding your passion and finding your purpose. These were all good resources and I gained valuable insight from them, including a lot of things that I did not know about myself. I did a lot of self-reflecting during that time. And sometimes it takes other people to see in you what you cannot see in yourself.  Either way, they would all lead me back to where I started – still not knowing my purpose.

Towards the end of 2014, I really started talking to God like “Ok, God. I’m really trying to understand what you want from me. I need you to help me figure this out because I don’t want to go through another year of essentially just existing and not living.” I felt like if I am not living out the purpose that God set forth for me, then I am just wasting time and letting Him down in the process. And that is not the bizness.

On New Year’s Day 2015, my best friend and I did our traditional Vision Board Party as we have done every year for about 4 years now. The center of my board contains the words “Passion. Purpose. Peace.” Now, the premise behind vision boards is the Law of Attraction. What you see drives your thoughts and your thoughts drive what you attract and these are your life experiences. So me seeing those three words on my vision board everyday reinforces my desire and my drive to make it happen on a daily basis.

A few months into the year, I reached a major turning point in my life.

Stay tuned to my next post to find out how God showed me who He is! 🙂

Girl, that’s how I feel too… even about this whole blogging thing. What’s the point of all this and my life Lord?! All I wanna do is glorify Him through my gifts and inspire/help others (esp. disadvantaged children and families in need) by being true to God and myself.

Yesssss!!! Girl, we just have to keep going, pray for guidance along the way, and trust the process. I’m glad you can relate. We have to motivate and pray for each other. ❤

Hello my friend! I love the site and what you are doing. I am so glad that you found your purpose and passion in life and have chosen to share it with the world. I can relate to those same feelings of what am I here to do…and I am a little more confident that I will figure it out very soon. Keep it up!
