How to be Happy

At the core of who we are, we ultimately just want to be happy.

The reason we do ANYTHING is because we think it will make us happy.

I recently read that 50% of our happiness comes from our temperament, i.e., our personality. It’s genetic. Only 10% of our happiness comes from our circumstances – things that happen beyond our control. But 40% comes from our intentions – things that we do on purpose in our everyday lives.

Things like what people say or think about us or what’s going to happen in the future are things we worry about most, but it only accounts for 10% of our happiness.

Isn’t that something?

Not to mention the fact that we can’t control any of that.

If you truly want to be happy, focus on the 40% that you CAN control, your intentions.

Be intentional about doing things that bring you joy each day.

Be intentional about the way you spend your time.

Be intentional about the people you spend time with.

Be intentional about finding purpose and fulfillment.

You create your happiness by doing things that make you happy.
