The challenge that many of my clients have is feeling overwhelmed by everything that’s on their plates while trying to walk in their purpose.
When looking at a to-do list that includes, for example, cooking, cleaning, helping kids with homework, doing work, and promote business on IG (or write one page for book or register for photography class, etc.)…all after working a full-time job, it’s easy to get overwhelmed thinking “I’m too tired. I don’t have time to do all of this. I can’t do this.”
Then what do we do? Instead of actually doing the things or figuring out how to get it all done, we lay on the couch and watch TV or we scroll through our social media feeds. Basically doing nothing, leaving us where we started and still feeling overwhelmed.
What I always like to offer is to take one thing on the list at a time. Forget the rest of it. It’s easier to wrap your mind around getting one thing done instead of looking at the whole list.
Instead of telling yourself that you can’t do this, remind yourself that you WANT to do this and why. Focus on getting that one thing done. Then go to the next thing. Repeat this until everything on your list is done.
We don’t get overwhelmed by the things on our list.
We get overwhelmed by how we think about the things that are on our list.
