OMG, I don’t even know where to start with my experience at this year’s PoshFest. I’ll just start from the beginning. Lol. For those of you who are not familiar with Poshmark, it is a platform for buying and selling fashion items. I ran across it during a Google search for locations to sell gently used items. I installed it and played around with it for a day or so, then forgot all about it. Then one day, I got an email letting me know that a pair of Coach shoes that I had listed had sold! So I listed some more stuff and it’s been on and poppin’ every since. Although it’s a mobile platform/app, it is very much a community. It is a community of women (and more recently, men) who promote and support each other. It is like nothing I have ever experienced before.
The first year that I joined, Poshmark hosted its very first fashion conference, called PoshFest, in Las Vegas. My mom and I went and I was finally able to meet so many of the women that I had only interacted with through the app! Nobody knew names or anything. We only knew each other by our usernames. It was so funny. But since then, many of us have grown to be real life friends. It’s crazy.
So anyway, fast forward to this year. PoshFest was being held in L.A. and I knew I had to go. My mom had gone with me every year, but unfortunately, she was unable to go this year. So I was on my own. About a week before I was to fly out, I received an email from Poshmark asking if I would hit the runway for their very first Fashion Show! (God, I see you!). Talk about waaaaaay out of my comfort zone?! I was scared out of my mind, but I knew I had to do it. More importantly, I wanted to do it. I felt that it was another opportunity to grow. I agreed to it. It was THE most amazing experience! I received all-star treatment, from styling to hair and makeup. And eyelashes! I went all out and got the most dramatic ones they had! LOL! Check me out working that runway!
Although we were “sworn” to secrecy about our participation in the fashion show, when I came out, all of my PFF’s (Posh Friends Forever) were there screaming my name and cheering me on, which helped with my nervousness. It was crazy. Thanks, Poshmark, for creating this amazing platform and community and for giving me this awesome opportunity. I will never forget it.
Now, if you have made it this far in this post… First, thank you from the bottom of my heart for following me and for reading. Second, I want you to know when to expect new stuff from me. So, starting today, I commit to posting every Saturday. I will occasionally post during the week, but Saturdays will be consistent posts. Cool? Cool.
Thank you again for the love!
G.
