When it comes to clothes, I invest mostly into my work wardrobe because it’s what I wear most. I try to buy pieces that I can wear for both work and play. However, sometimes even when I’m wearing it for play, I still feel like work. When I’m going out for date night or a night out with the girls, I don’t want to feel like work. Although I’m not typically one for trends, this is where (inexpensive) trendy pieces can come in handy. As with anything I wear, when deciding on a trendy item, I make sure that:
- It fits my style. I love to take new looks and make it my own. It’s how I stay true to myself with my style.
- I am comfortable wearing it. For example, I don’t feel comfortable in revealing clothes so I wouldn’t buy something that I’d be pulling down, pulling up, or covering up all night.
- I feel confident wearing it. I have to feel good in whatever I am wearing. I feel secure in who I am. I feel empowered and it shows. “A compliment is momentary; how you feel lasts all day.”
Off-the-shoulder (OTS) and statement-sleeve tops are currently on trend so when I saw this top, I thought it would be perfect for date night. Blush is one of my favorite shades of pink. And the bell sleeves with ruched detailing gave it the perfect flirty look I was going for. I paired it with jeans (because I refuse to wear anything else when I’m not at work unless absolutely necessary) and floral pumps. Rose gold accessories were created to be worn with blush, so I’m just following the rules.
