When to Invest in Trends

When it comes to clothes, I invest mostly into my work wardrobe because it’s what I wear most. I try to buy pieces that I can wear for both work and play. However, sometimes even when I’m wearing it for play, I still feel like work. When I’m going out for date night or a night out with the girls, I don’t want to feel like work. Although I’m not typically one for trends, this is where (inexpensive) trendy pieces can come in handy. As with anything I wear, when deciding on a trendy item, I make sure that:

  1. It fits my style. I love to take new looks and make it my own. It’s how I stay true to myself with my style.
  2. I am comfortable wearing it. For example, I don’t feel comfortable in revealing clothes so I wouldn’t buy something that I’d be pulling down, pulling up, or covering up all night.
  3. I feel confident wearing it. I have to feel good in whatever I am wearing. I feel secure in who I am. I feel empowered and it shows.  “A compliment is momentary; how you feel lasts all day.”

Off-the-shoulder (OTS) and statement-sleeve tops are currently on trend so when I saw this top, I thought it would be perfect for date night. Blush is one of my favorite shades of pink. And the bell sleeves with ruched detailing gave it the perfect flirty look I was going for. I paired it with jeans (because I refuse to wear anything else when I’m not at work unless absolutely necessary) and floral pumps. Rose gold accessories were created to be worn with blush, so I’m just following the rules.

What current trend is your favorite? Do you invest in trendy pieces?

I’m with you, I’m at work so much that it reflects in my closet! Getting more pieces for play now. I’m with the floral trend, but embracing it with a floral purse! This is the perfect date night look ?

I’m with you. I don’t like trends either. In fact I will buy maybe 1 or 2 trendy pieces and usually they are black or white so I can wear them multiple times!!! This outfit is gorgeous!!!

Yes! And that’s smart because black and white will always be classics. Thank you so much!

I invest in trendy pieces all the time because you can get them pretty cheap since most stores will be carrying those styles. Right now I’m into all things mesh and bodysuits. Lol, I love the OTS trend and I feel like it’s a classic. Blush is also super trending right now and I’m stocking up on anything blush!

That’s true! I like the mesh, but I haven’t been able to get into the bodysuits. But that is one look that I love on you. You have the perfect body for it.
