The reason we won’t commit to something is because we’re afraid of the let-down.
If you commit to do/be something for someone else and you fail on that commitment, you let them down.
If you commit to do/be something for yourself and you fail on that commitment, you let yourself down. This is why most people don’t set goals.
The feeling of let-down is horrible. You get this sinking feeling in your chest. It feels like your heart drops. You beat yourself up for not doing it or for not trying harder. You just want to hide from yourself and others. (I bet you wonder how I know.)
So to avoid feeling this, we avoid committing to anything (including ourselves) altogether. But what you’re really saying is “I don’t trust myself to see this through.” When you commit, you commit to seeing it through. You take action until you get there, no matter how long it takes. The only way you fail is if you quit.
It doesn’t matter where you are in life. If you know that it can be better than it is right now and you want that for yourself, it’s 1000% possible for you. You have to commit to yourself and be about that “follow through” life. Do whatever it takes.
Listen, there will be people in life who won’t trust you, who won’t believe in you, who will quit on you, who won’t bet on you, who won’t commit to you. Don’t you be one of them.
Always bet on you. Always commit to you.
If you don’t quite trust yourself yet, don’t worry. I got you. Click the button below and let’s talk about how I can help you get there. I’m betting on you and I’m committed to getting you there.
