I had been thinking about getting one of those Ring Video Doorbell thingamajigs where you can see when someone is at your house. It sounded cool and I’d seen it in action but I was so nervous about getting one.
I asked myself why I didn’t want one. But I brushed off the answer with a shrug “Cause I just don’t.” No real reason. I immediately caught on to myself like “Waitttt a minute, something deeper is going on here.” So I asked myself again and demanded my brain to think about it and give an answer (Remember this? ?). Here was the conversation:
Me: Why don’t you want the Ring thing?
Brain: Cause I just don’t.
Me: What’s the real reason you don’t want one?
Brain: Because I’m scared to have one.
Me: What are you scared of?
Brain: I’m afraid of seeing something that looks weird/suspicious.
Me: Why are you afraid of that?
Brain: Because then I’d have to do something. I’d just rather not know if something weird/suspicious is going on because then I can go on living life, oblivious to it, like everything is fine.
Me: AHA!
Isn’t this how we do though? Many of us do this with our purpose. We know what we’re supposed to be doing but we’d rather pretend not to know so that we don’t have to do anything about it. It’s easier to keep going like we’ve been going than to put ourselves out there and risk being uncomfortable.
Do you realize that you’re already uncomfortable though? You’re not 100% happy in your life right now doing what you’re doing. You feel like you should be doing more. You’re unfulfilled at work and you’re forcing yourself to do it day in and day out. And on top of that, it probably carries over into your personal life too.
Until you walk into what you were created to do, you will continue to feel this way. I know. Because I’ve been there.
You just need to make a move.
What move? It’s actually really simple.
When you’re ready, we can talk through it and see how we can work together to get you to making moves.
When you’re ready, let’s talk.
