This new journey started several months ago where I was having major stomach issues and the gastro specialists diagnosed me with Celiac Disease. Apparently, I was allergic to gluten (wheat, rye, and barley), which means I couldn’t have bread, pasta, fried foods, etc. Or so they thought. You can read all about it from the beginning here. Well, if you know me, you know that I absolutely live off sandwiches, specifically Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwiches. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all usually consists of a sandwich of some sort. So you can just about imagine what culture shock it was for me not to be able to have that anymore. Though it was a huge lifestyle change, it was one that I was willing to make at all costs in order to feel well and be healthy again. However, I felt it in my gut (no pun intended) that this was only temporary and to trust the process. So I did. I followed the instructions from the specialists, but I also stayed in prayer, stayed positive, and stayed faithful. I trusted the process.
Now let me tell yall about the God I SERVE!!! Remember in a previous post, I told yall that I felt in my spirit that I would be eating a chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A real soon? Well…
Yes, ma’am! I devoured that. As a matter of fact, my first sandwich was in L.A. a couple of weeks ago at In-N-Out Burger. It was my first time having it ever and it was delicious! I wish we had one here.
In short, it was acid reflux (check out the previous post for details). Although I still have to be careful about what I eat, I AM able to eat sandwiches, pastas, and fried foods again (just leave off anything with tomato). I feel better than I’ve felt in months. I can sleep lying down at night like normal people (although I’m far from normal). I feel like myself again. I have had a few rough nights here and there as I learn what foods agree with me and what foods do not, but overall I have been feeling great!
Thank you again for all the love, prayers, and support. You will never know what it means to me. God is SO GOOD!
xo,
P&G
